Salut Giggles,
C'est bien, vous prenez l'initiative! I would love to help you, but I'm afraid my written French is rather 'creative' and I'm bound to teach you all sorts of incorrect grammar.
The suggestions about reading the paper and watching tv are great - also try to get dvd's that provide both English and French subtitles and stay away from comedy for a while - the actors tend to speak much faster and there's a lot of slang.
You could also just start posting to a French forum, explaining how you want to contribute and would like help with your French - I read the posts at a forum for a while which attracted a lot of Chinese, and it was really good to see how helpful native English speakers were.
Bon courage, amusez-vous bien en France! |

Tigerdevilgirl,
Sorry you didn't have fun in Paris. I actually started my Web site after realizing that many people who go to Paris unprepared can end up hating the experience! You have to sort of get guidance and good recommendations to enjoy Paris on your first trip. If you loved Paris before your trip, I encourage you to not give up on it so quick because it actually is amazing. But next time, go with a well thought out game plan, ask for good tips on fun things to do and I guaranty it's going to be a completely different experience. |

My father was originally from France and did not speak a word of English. He said he learned English from reading the papers. Perhaps you can go to yahoo.fr, grab a translation dictionary and practice. There are tons of restrictions regarding moving to France, they love red tape. I encourage you to investigate all the rules before you find yourself in for a big letdown. |
