There's only one genuine German love song:
Drafi Deutscher:
"Marmor, Stein und Eisen bricht"

Go for it, she'll love you!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0tcgDIhNFsg

(That's not a real video; the song is from 1965, they didn't have music videos then, but it's the original sound. Mind his American accent!)

Well...

I am English..understand German and have been wooed with these songs by my German boyfriend.

My suggestions are:

+++ Rammstein - Ohne Dich (without you)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pkLDEEs20U

with Eng. subs... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5SfCBu0nW4

Another great one is:

+++ Rosenstolz - Liebe ist Alles - (love is everything)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fWb5PgrrJXU

or..

With more of a beat...

+++ Juli - Warum -(why)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q3F_wmE5kZA

another great one by Rosenstolz

+++ Ich bin Ich
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hr7uIjqNa8Q

another one with a fast beat:
+++ Sportfreunde Stiller - Ein Kompliment
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qHQYolXvCro

This is nice.....but sad (see video)

+++ Söhne Mannheims - Und wenn ein Lied...(Once a song...( is leaving my lips)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kd91FFwadGM

++++ another classic
Klee - Gold
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rNqPHmweTJY

lastly...
He is a bit different but popular with some...
+++ Heinz Rudolf Kunze - Dein ist mein ganzes Herz

I need the following for a good list:

How old is your wife? Probably most important...

Has she recently moved away from Germany or has she been living elsewhere for years, decades...?

What kind of music is she into? There are great "romantic" songs in every possible genre. :)

Some of the songs mentioned here - especially the traditional folk pop - would be definite no-no's for any woman younger than 60, I'm afraid. ;)

I think one of the best german love songs is:

Kribbeln im Bauch
by
Jule Neigel

Whatever you do, please don't try Tokyo Hotel!

If you want something romantic, try these songs by Silbermond:
Symphonie
Das Beste

I absolutely love 'Unsterblich' (immortal) bei die Toten Hosen:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7lcFXZJ1Zw

Roughly translates to:

I want to live with you forever
at least for this one night
Let us not ask any questions
for which there are no answers

With you I have this feeling
that tonight we are immortal
No matter what happens now
I know we are immortal

We could stand on a busy road
or balance on a roof top
our eyes could be closed and we could count to ten
and still nothing would happen to us

With you I have this feeling
that tonight we are immortal
No matter what happens now
I know we are immortal

We made it easy for each other
sitting on a cloud and never falling
here we are fine as we're on the run
until the sun calls us back in the morning

I only have this feeling with you
that we are immortal tonight
I know nothing can happen to us
because we are immortal, we are immortal

But Silbermond(I quite like 'Unendlich' translates to infinite) and Juli seem good choices as well for my taste but it strongly depends on what your wife is into! Whatever you choose though, I think she will appreciate the thought.
My mother in law once tried to make me a German Christmas CD to make my first Christmas in the UK a more 'homely' experience, it was awful but I loved it anyway because it was so thoughtful and considerate.

Bernd
try those
Howard Carpendale (ti amo)
http://video.google.de/videosearch?q=howard+carpendale&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B2GGGL_deGB267GB267&um=1&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title#

Münchner Freiheit (ohne dich, tausend mal du,ich will dich nochmal)
http://video.google.de/videosearch?q=m%C3%BCnchener+freiheit&sourceid=navclient-ff&ie=UTF-8&rlz=1B2GGGL_deGB267GB267&um=1&sa=X&oi=video_result_group&resnum=4&ct=title#

Andrea Berg
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=02Wl093EB1k

I don't now their particular songs but I know they sing a lot of romantic songs (in germany)

julia d
If you tell me how old she is that would help a lot!

mike
some of the most famous / emotional song was
"Du bist das Beste" by Silbermond.

Alex K
Try from the list (songs by men)
1. Uwe Busse ("Wenn es Nacht wird", "Hand aufs Herz", "Jahrmarkt der Traume")
2. Andy Borg ("Die beruhmten drei Worte", "Memories of you", "Diese eine grosse Liebe", "Das kleine Beisl")
3. Hansi Hinterseer ("Sierra Nevada", "Amore mio", "Du bist die Frau fur immer")
4. Kastelruther Spatzen ("Das geheimnis der drei Worte", "Du gehoerst in meine Arme", "Herzschlag fuer Herzschlag"

5. Ursprung Boam (I'm kidding;) )

If you want just one song, then take this Uwe Busse "Wenn es Nacht wird"

I'm not German but have lived here half my life.
I'd say Tokio Hotel is a teenie band so try some of the following:

Echt - "Weinst Du?"
Echt - "Junimond" (a cover but a good one)
Münchener Freiheit - "Tausend mal du", or "Ohne dich" or "Fantasie"
Herbert Grönemeyer - "Mensch"

Some of Nena's stuff was quite dreamy and sloppy too :-)
