Any good places to visit in Germany?

I'm planning to go to Germany in August. I'm thinking of staying in Frankfurt for a couple days, and then I will be going to other cities in Germany. Any good suggestions as to where to visit? Thanks! =)

I just got back from Germany early this morning, I liked Rothenburg, that is where you can get a tour from the night watchman, the guy does a very good job, and it is also a very nice little city. If you are into history, I'd definitely recommend Berlin, with Museum Island, and also the Berlin wall of course, there is also Check Point Charlie. There is also some stuff about Johan Sebastian Bach in Weimar. Also, if you go to Rothenburg, there is a bar, when translated into English, called Hell, =they also have a "specialty" called a snowball. So when you get home, you can say you had a Snowball in Hell.

By all means go to Koln. Lived 4 years just west of the city. Great old section, and majority of folks speak English. The town we were in had a population of about 5000 and had 56 bars. I used to tell the new folks, don't try to hit them all in one night. Great beer and great cheer. Enjoy. I hope to get back this September for a few weeks.

well right now i live in germany and i like it alot i think that you should go to Kaiserslautern and visit the walkpflatz they have some really good stores down there. go to Munich that is a fun city and Salzburg. if you go to Salzburg and visit the salt mines you will have a blast because you get to dress up like a miner and slide down 100 foot slides and see how they get the salt out of the rocks it is a place that to go.

I've lived in Germany for many years. I do not know your budget, how long you plan to stay and not sure what you are interested in seeing. But I would definitely recommend visiting Heidelberg and its surroundings (one of the most beautiful), Bruchsal (which is about 20 min. from Heidelberg). Rothenburg (small city) very old and worth seeing. Of course Wiesbaden and Darmstadt (modern) too. Berlin and Munich are good as well - very international - a lot of culture - but rather expensive. Personally I would not advise Frankfurt (just another big city - like New York).
If you like you can e-mail me and give me more information on what your interested in - in order to give more detailed information.
Wish you have a great stay in good ol' Germany.
God bless you.
By the way - Switzerland is just across the border and is more beautiful - my personal favorite.
