Here are some helpful websites:
http://jobsearch.about.com/od/internationaljobs/a/germany.htm
"German HR people are usually very exacting and will put a messy application into the Ablage P, which is better known as the wastepaper basket!" is really true!

First you need to apply with coverng letter, including CV and references. YOu have to put also a picture in the application. If you are non EU citizen you have to put in a copy of the work permit as well.
Regarding the interview t depends on the company some got real assesment centers to others you just walk in to sign the contract. Regarding your last question : it depends what your profession is |

Edmond gave you a good idea about how to apply in Germany. Don't care about the thunbs down since we got someone trolling through this section. See here:http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AuhbdH4mhoiivaMWvRjqcSab7RR.;_ylv=3?qid=20080622112037AAdNdfK

You need a work permit and a permit to stay.
You must speak German well.
Flats/appartments and living is more expansive than you might think.
Petrol is nearly up to 1,60€ a litre.
And - we don't have enough jobs for ourselves because all larger factories are settling over to some east European country to produce cheaper. So many of us (job offices usually say less than 4 % but this isn't true. It's at least double that much or even 10% of all people living here) are searching for a job as well. And the problem is the older you are the lower is the chance to get a reasonable job - if any at all. By the age of beginning 40 you rather belong to the "elderly" ones...
So, I recommend to stay in the country you are at the moment. You might be luckier there. |

you have to submit a photo of yourself plus tell them your age, place of birth, religion etc. etc.
it is really awful. do they take into account other factors besides skill? it would seem so. they are way behind the usa and canada when it comes to labour law, human resources and fair hiring practices. it is like going back to 1958 and applying for a job in the us.
it is only that it is 2008. |

Let them do most of the talking and just answer their questions. They aren't chatty like we are. Also don't bother wasting time about your customer service skills. They don't pride themselves of service. |
