Are German bars and clubs all full of teenagers?

I heard somewhere that in Germany and some other European countries the drinking age is something like 16, does that mean the bars and clubs are all full of teenagers?

Would i have to brave a crowd of fight-dancing kiddies to see a band there?

As of January 1st this year the LAW changed in Germany I believe and it is 18+ now only.

Before that you could go from ages 16 up until like Midnight or 10 pm I cannot remember the exact time not having been a teen myself. They could only get beer, not shots and such. Then the late night was for adults.

Now it is all 18+ in Germany though you can still have drinks at a restaurant with your family, a glass of wine or beer if you are with them. That is usually allowed still I believe, but I would have to double check to ensure that law has not changed as well since my last visit.

Clubs can be very crowded some times just as here, no real difference in that aspect I think. Just have fun and speak some German!

Some bars do draw the teens. Others do not. In Germany, 16 year olds can legally drink beer. Distilled spirits are limited to those 18 and older.

the drinking age for beer is 16 and for spirits 18 but most good clubs have bouncers and they just let in appropriate persons!

Actually the drinking age in Germany for Beer and Wine is 16. U have to be 18 tho to drink liquor like Vodka, Whiskey etc.
Then also to get into a club u only have to be 16 if u stay only until midnight but most clubs dont this anymore so u have to be 18. But unfortunately not every club is checking IDs carefully. When I think back, the first time I went to a night club was with the age of 13 in DĂĽsseldorf, Germany and I showed my 4years older cousins ID. nobody cared.

there are some diffrences:
There are clubs, where you must show your passport, and verify your age (in most clubs 18). In this clubs are not so much teens
But there also clubs, who don´t ask for passports, i think you know what this mean...

Drinking age in Germany
Beer/Wine: some handle with 16 (old law), some with 18 (new law)
spirits and cocktails including spirits 18

But in near future the legal drinking age for all alcoholic beverages increase from 16 to 18

I live in Germany, I go to the clubs like every weekend. :-) The teeangers most likely go to the clubs, not to the bars. But there are some clubs in every "bigger" city that are famous for don't have that many teenagers ;-)

I lived in Heidelberg for 3 years and went to allot of bars and clubs - 16 year old can drink beer, but I never saw them in any clubs or bars at all. There was only one dance club that I went to that had younger 18-20 year olds there, but other then that it was all adults.

Mimi
yes, thats correct!

at least until midnight, then kiddies with age "under 18 " have to go home!

in bigger cities the "real" clubs have more people older visiting, they a re more expensiv too, thats a way to keep em kids out.

No, most are like the ones in the United States. They, like we do in America, are in school as teenagers.

I would say no because drinking is legal over there. So it's not like it's really a big deal to them.Just like weed is legal in Switzerland but you don't see them abusing it.

The drinking age is actually 16 over in Germany. I've been there twice since I was 16 years old (19 now), and I keep in contact with the friends that I've made there. I can speak the language decently well too. When I was there, we went to bars almost every night, and I can personally attest that about 40-60% of people in bars on any given night were teenagers. I hope this answers your question!
