Fury of a Rodent

Are German winters long and depressing like Indiana winters?

I'm thinking about becoming a foreign exchange there, but I am sick and tired of Indiana winters.

Yes German winters are very depressing and especially this one seems to have no end.

Biedronka
Sadly, they are - especially in the cities. The Christmas markets and carnival make up for it, but only just. You might want to do an exchange further south.

Frackeled is absolutly wrong
Hamburg blue sky, sunshine, 7°C , crocus are in flower, the bumble bees are flying,
and the ransome leaves aree out. SPRING HAS ARRIVED!!!

I live in the Black Forest (south of germany),and here the winters are long.
The rest of Germany is snowfree, but here is still a little snow :-(

OMG yes! That's why I moved back to Texas. I was in Berlin for 7 years and I would have to say, winter was so difficult for me to get through. It would start in Oct or Nov and go thru April or May. February was usually the worst for me.

But like someone said, it kind of depends on where you are. I think the more southern areas have more snow and sunshine. More northern are grey.

kurve702
Depending on what part of Germany you go too but midwest winters tend to be much more colder then german winters. Germany does get snow on occasion but not as much as indiana nor does it get as cold.

frackledJJ
This one sure is! Yesterday: snow in Munich. Cold, but sunny in the Rhein/Main area.
However, last year aroudn this time, we were wearing t-shirts and it was already nice, warm spring, and the winter hardly had had any snow at all. So... It really just depends on where you go to, and the year. Might be lucky! ;)
