Uncle Sam's son®

Are Germans thankful to us Americans that we saved them ?

My Grandpa was wounded and lost a leg at the Russian front, although he was never a supporter of the Hitler regime. He died when I was a child. He never resisted the regime, as he would have risked being shot right away. I have some documents he left; one is from the American occopation force that he reported at their camp, on a reddish sort of paper they had obviously used before during Nazi times, and it was just turned around (an impression of the "Hakenkreuz" could still be seen) and there's in German and English on it: "Mr F.S. has reported to us today." There were some more details, concerning his state of health, and his "career" in the army.

There may be different opinions about the Americans saving Germany in the second World War. I'm not quite sure about my own. But from my personal history (and this was just one story; I could tell a few more which I know from my ancestors), who knows if I were alive if the Americans hadn't invaded this part of the country?

But it's not about "what if". What if what? It happened. Our task now is to never let it happen again.

And bomb raids on cities, well: "Saving" should look somewhat different, shouldn't it?

Are Americans thankful for the Bimmers, Mercs, VWs, Porsche's, Audi's that Germany exports to them?

Fenris Troll Ripper JPA RT ATL ®
I concur with Alwin and Holger and I am American! Their points are accurate in my eyes. We did not lead WWII it was a joint effort. And why would they be thankful or un thankful what is it we saved them from exactly tell us?

I know thumbs are coming from the troll even though I am agreeing with them and they have all up, I bet before tomorrow you will see us all with a bunch of thumbs down!!
