Germans spank their kids less than i.e. American parents. Teenagers don't get spanked. Germany is very liberal, so they're not all about authority and that kinda stuff. |

not too strict, because after WW2, people realised how dangerous it is to teach children blind obedience and not to question. Today, children are encouraged to stand up for themselves and speak their mind.
Spanking is of course - as any other form of violence - considered child abuse and a criminal offence. Parents can go to jail for doing it and I pray to God they do. I don't understand why parents consider it appropriate to hit a child, even if they dont call it hitting or violence. It still is a violent act and those parents should have kept their legs together in the first place.
If I see a parent hitting their child or threatening him or her, like "you just wait till we get home, you'll get your ... .... " I will of course inform the police and detain the offender till the offficers arrive.

No most kids I see run around like little satan incarnates, with little or no discipline. When they get in trouble nothing happens and they continue to do the same crap again.
I suppose it depends on the family and their disciplinary choices. But I think most German kids I have encountered are rude, obnoxious, and could use a good *** swatting. |
