Are the German cities Wittenberg and Wittenberge actually the same city?
They're spelled just a bit differently, but I have found seperate maps of them and they seem to be at different locations, but both appeared near Berlin.
Two different cities.
One is in Brandenburg state, the other in Saxony-Anhalt.
Wittenberg goes by the full name of Lutherstadt Wittenberg because Martin Luther started the reformation there.

Wittenberge is in Brandenburg about 124 Kilometres NE of Berlin, Wittenberg is in Sachsen-Anhalt about 87 Kilometres SE of Berlin.

This are 2 different cities. "Lutherstadt Wittenberg" is the one Saxony Anhalt province.
Wittenberge is in Brandenburg province (which surrounds the capital Berlin (http://www.wittenberg.de)
