And those idiots who always gives me a thumbs down, why to heck you don't write anything here if you know it better, or are you just enjoying giving thumbs down just for fun???

Yes, as well as in other german towns - in bars, restaurants or just around the corner. But since January, you would need a bank card to buy them (so as to confirm that you are above 18) and anyway they cost more than in a normal kiosk (where they are already expensive enough).

Yes, the machines are everywhere. But about 6 months ago there was a law passed that everyone must be of legal age to buy cigarettes in Germany. So the owners of the machines had to make modifications to prevent sale to anyone underage. They installed "card readers" for this purpose. I don't know what other cards they read but I do know that they read the German drivers license. I tried my American credit card the first time and it didn't work. Lucky I have a German license.

Oh, and a pack of cigarettes cost 4 Euro (doesn't matter what brand) and they have 17 cigarettes in a pack when sold from a machine. If you buy at a store, the packs have 19 cigarettes in them for the same price.
