Sadly...wherever there are people, there will be 'hate crimes,' referring to the worst crimes of humanity. Anytime you have persons who hate a race, or creed, or religion...you will have followers of them. It's despicable that we can't all be committed to a prosperous future free from drought, famine, and pestilence, but beliefs will always differ. The white/black divide has been going on for 200 years. Blacks feel that the whites have racially suppressed them, and continue to do so. Slavery ended many, many years ago, yet blacks continue to use slavery as a type of leverage (politically, socially, etc.) and so the battle goes on. Some people feel that Hispanics should get out of this country, for no good reason other than the idea that they are different. Hispanics are hard-working people with families to support, that are here in this country to develop a future where they can live free from governmental corruption. I'm sorry, I digress. I can imagine that there are hate crimes in Germany, but I wish there weren't.

the incidences of hate crimes are actually down from years past even with stricter laws. Some think that putting out more laws makes things better but we just have to enforce ones we have.
but we are doing better then before

No, hate crimes are much less. They are not unheard of, but we've got them prety covered.

Crime is very low in comparison to the US, hate crimes included.

I feel a lot safer in Germany than I did in the states, for sure.

Germany is still a divided country - there are few hate crimes in western Germany - but East Germany is terrible. Berlin is really bad .... there are many no go areas in Berlin.

On the other hand: Hamburg is run by a gay jewish mayor who runs the christian demorats in that state..... a very open minded city
