Are there many German men who marry foreign women? In general, what countries citizens do they marry?

What is the percentage of German who marry foreign women?
And what is the percentage for each country women that German marry to?

despite the stagnation of marriages between germans-germans the marriage between germans and partners from foreign countries did rise ever since.

1989 approx. 36.000, 2004 approx. 60.198 (16 %)

there is a gender-related difference. more german men got married to a foreign woman compared to german women that got married to foreign men.

german men - foreign women: 1989: 15.670, 2000: 31.517
german women - foreign men: 1989: 20.216, 2000: 24.535

this was an indication of martimony migration of women.

currently the marriages between german men and women from asian countries did stagnate while marriages to women from easter european countries did rise.

polish, russian women. i myself know men who are married to women from romania. thailand still popular. brasilian women also on top of the list. marriages to fillippino women do stagnate. not taken into account here are the foreign women who ALREADY do live/work here in germany (greek, italian, spanish...)

these are only statistics up to 2004...sorry! hard to find something.

http://www.network-migration.org/miginfo/migration_und_bevoelkerung/artikel/051006.htm

the significance of official statistics does only rely on marriages held in germany!!!!

due to mass tourism, buisiness-trips, bigger mobility in general etc. bi-national relationships are more and more common!

very interesting - this research - i tend to find out more as i have heaps of bi-national relatinships in my closer network of friends....

hope it helped a bit.

I am an American and have lived here in Germany for over 30 years. I myself am married to a German. It is true that many men do marry Asians however they also marry or just date other nationalities of the surrounding europeans countries. Quite often I've seen mixed couples from Africa, Filipinos, Poland... just to name a few. It is my experience that couples meet at universities as well and carry relationships past that stage.

I'm married to a German and living in Germany, and recently I heard a report on the news talking about Germans who marry foreigners. They said that for German men, the most popular female nationality to marry is Polish. When German women marry foreigners, the most popular nationality is Turkish.

What kelly said is true.
The reason is mostly to allow these foreigners to stay in Germany. That's why they marry a German. It's easier to get a permanent visa then.

lots of asians and russians and italians here....some americans...but this is only because many german women are 'head-strong' and kinda stubborn at times and lots of the men dont like it because they are the same way. I dont know how to say this in a nice way but i am trying and not trying to offend anyone....As the generations grow up here I find that the older generation is very traditional and the up and younger generation are very foolish in their way of life and whats important to them. The women specifically, as well as, foreign men either come across as arrogant and egotistic more and more as the years pass by....Importance to the women is how much the lamp cost over the dining room table and where they are going to go for vacation that year, and what clothes is in 'fashion' for them and their kids (normally the kids dont like what mom picks)..Lots of the german men are very humble and conservative but careful if you pick a verbal fight with them...they will let you know how they feel real quick. I think the women are counted on to do alot in germany (basically everything) IF the husband is working a full time job....its not really fair i guess but its tradition and the way it is...anyway just my opinion and kinda off base from your question

Mr. Kick
Generally if a European marries a foreign woman she is asian.
