Berlin safe?

Is Berlin a safe city to travel alone besides what has been said about Nazis still existing in certain areas of the city?

Yeah, it's pretty safe. But, as for all foreign places, keep your stuff close to you or on a money belt under your clothes because there are pick-pockets. That's just a general precaution. A good majority of the people there already speak English, and they are pretty nice and friendly from what I experienced there. If it's your first time though, I would suggest taking another person with you instead of going by yourself.

As for the Nazis still living there, most of them are probably just old so I wouldn't be too worried about them, lol. It's not like you see prevalent Nazi influence there. I didn't see any at all to be honest.

Hope this helped a little. Have fun!!! : )

Berlin is safe...the Nazi-stuff is just a media and press thing of people never visited Germany. You always should be careful when travelling coz of pickpockets etc but that's in every city the same (have seen some in Paris and Brussels). I bet you'll enjoy your trip to Berlin it's a fantastic city with a lot of interesting sights and history. Most people speak English so you won't have a problem there.

I lived in Berlin for 7 years and was out late at night, on my own, walking, taking the subway, riding in taxis and on buses and NEVER even once had a problem. I sometimes was out at 3 and 4 in the morning, alone, a woman, and not once had a problem. It is perfectly safe.

I went to Berlin last October i had no problems at all its a great city that is as beautiful as it is fun!!! The people are really friendly as well...

yeh it should be pretty safe, try and get a slash proof hidden waste wallet thing because the pickpockets are quite sneaky there and they like to slash it if they see it and slide it off your waste

OK I am German and I don't like the word Nazi. I think it has like in the US more with Racial stuff to do. I know a lot of people here that had problems living in the states. The were labeled as a Nazi just because they are German. I think you'll be safe in Berlin.

Poppy_I.
In every city of the world you can run into problems. It also depends, if you remain on the normal tracks of if you are a person bound to get involved into some trouble.

When I was visiting L.A., a German couple was murdered. But - they were out to buy drugs in some corner...

On my last visit to Berlin I saw no problems, but that was before the wall went down. I'm sure, there are a few Nazis walking on the streets, as well as some juvenile gangs, but compared to what you have in some large citys in the States, it is nothing.

Gee, I guess I am really lucky. I have visited Berlin(alone) and lived to tell about it. In one part of the city the Nazis will beat you, or make you shave your head. In another part of the city the Muslim extremists will torture you, or make you cover your head.
Oh really, what do you think? You will step off your plane or train and some Nazis will beat you or send you off to a camp?
Now, if you do want a Neo-Nazi skin head type to beat you there ARE a few clubs(Hetero&Gay) that cater to those kinds of things.....
Whatever, Berlin is safe. Have a nice visit.

Salva
There are skinheads in almost every european country. There are someones in Spain, my homeland, but I've never be involved with them, I had no problems. So, it's depends on the luck hehe, but I guess, there are good and bad people in every city and in every nation, so, personally, I don't fear Berlin. In fact, all people say that it is the best city of Europe.

Berlin is not safe at all - even the mayor admits that there are many no go areas in town. The city is run by communists ... there are nazis in the streets. I am Jewish and I have been attacked in Berlin ...the city is depressing.
