Oh goodness. Bielefeld has a reputation in Germany as a dead-end town. In fact, its name is a bit of a joke - we like to pretend the place doesn't exist and is just a funny name.

On a more serious note, though, I've been there and it's an ok town. It's a decent size, not too provincial, and it's quite centrally located if you look at all of Germany. So if you want to do a bit of exploring while you're there (which you definitely should), you'll be situated in a good spot.

Hi! I have to agree with 'C' - I'm married to an American soldier, but I'm German. I have to admit, it was always really hard for me to live in Military Housing. However, here's a link to Bielefeld for you so you can check it out:

As for your age, don't worry so much. There'll be lots of younger women.

You will love it! germany is so good the easy life the late drinking and everything is tax free.

I was in the army myself and served in germany for 3 years, I had my son in a german hospital,

Watch out for the army wives though, they can be a bit funny as in they seem to think they have their husbands rank (pathetic) I stayed away from them, You will have to mingle though but just find some decent lasses not the "wives club loosers",
I was 18 when I first went out there, good luck I wish I was going back xx
