Germany has one of the most user friendly web pages I've encountered. You can select German, English, or French as the language for the site. For you question I went to:
1) www.db.de
2) selected English for myself
3) clicked on "tickets" in the upper left corner
4) filled in the From, To, Date, Time blocks that were in the upper left corner
5) then clicked on "seach" just below where I input the above information.
Read the screen and you will be able to go from there.

There are many trains daily going from Frankfurt through Nuernberg. It takes almost exactly 2 hours with the high-speed ICE and costs EURO 46 (about $60).

Of course you can, go to http://www.bahn.de and there is an english version you can select if you do not read German and you can put in your locale and destination and it will give you all the available options.
If you are planning on a lot of train travel consider a German Rail pass!

There is also the other option of going by the "Happy weekend ticket". Where up to 4 people can travel together to any where in Germany for about 35 euros ( about 44us$) in one day.
Its a fun way to explore the country and you can easily get from Frankfurt to Nurenberg.
