Can I call a 0900 number in Germany from the US?
Actually, its my girlfriend who is German, shes in the US trying to call a customer service line in Germany thats 0900...but its blocked. Any way around this?
Sorry, there is no way around it. These 0900 services get paid trough the caller's phone bill, so the caller has to be in Germany to call that number.

Sorry not that i know of UNLESS you happen to have a GERMAN HANDI from Germany here with you in the USA, THEN you could do it for the billing would go to your German phone bill.
Otherwise stick to 1900 numbers here I suppose.
You COULD try this but I DOUBT it will work and I am not going to test it for I have no desire to call those lines, you would dial
011 49 900 and the rest of the number and drop the 0. Then it MAY get billed to your USA phone but if you do it will be expensive even if you have a plan to call europe cheap for it is not a private home you are calling. Try it but I doubt it will work for you, I am nearly 99% sure you have to have a German phone!
Good luck I guess lol I would not want your phone bill if you succeed.

there are no free 1-800 or 1-900 numbers in germany. all the companies charge the customers to call them. not exactly my idea of good customer service.

So called "customer service phone numbers" in Germany starting with 0900 are nothing else than a rip off and they are usually pornographic telephone lines for telephone sex. Sorry to let you know this but this is unfortunately true.
Sometimes other services also use these 0900 numbers but it's better not to use them as they are only expensive and bill you at least 3 Euros per unit. And one unit might even be just 6 or 12 seconds!
If your girlfriend really has to get in contact with a certain customer service - such as a factory, firm or an office - she'd better try to find out the local landline number in Germany. These numbers are able to dial from the USA.
And as I said these numbers are ALWAYS a rip off. Be glad that you can't dial them from the USA.
