Can I take food into Germany from the US?

I will be going to Germany next week. Am I allowed to bring any packaged or processed foods through customs from the United States?

Alwin E
Sure you can. Brings some sweets. You're allowed one and a half kilos, or 125 euros worth, whatever is more.

Just me
yes

Cookie Preston
Yes, generally you can bring packaged or processed foods, but not
meat, eggs, or other animal products. Amounts of other foods are limited to quantities for personal use. (or gifts). If you bring vitamins and so on have them in their original container. Here is a German website (in English) that describes more about bringing food
http://www.zoll.de/english_version/a0_passenger_traffic/e0_vub/e0_food/a0_private_imports/index.html

I hope you are just bringing some as gifts, and that you plan to enjoy our German food while you visit! We have delicious granola bars and everything a traveller could want.

Nicole F
yes but some tips through custom would be like rap the food in rapping paper or put in between cloths.... this is only if u don't want to pay and be checked out through customs

blahhhhhh......
