Can I travel with two passports, with visa in one (but this passport is nt valid, as I was issued a new one)?

I have my passport with valid UK visa (I am not British), but this passport had no more pages so I got new passport and have to transfer my visa into it, but home office told me to apply by post. I have no time to do it. I have my old passport with visa, but there is corner cut on it (makes it invalid) and I have my new passport with no visa. Can I travel like that to Poland? (and no, I am not Polish). Home office officer told me that I can, but maybe he just wanted to get rid of me as I kep asking why cant I get my visa transfered in person (not by post).

Please, Can anyone help me? Many thanks
Additional Details
Home office dont know! I called them and man said that I might have problems, then I said that the home office officer told me that I can travel like that and the men on the phone immidiately corrected himself saying, then yeah, you can travel.. So who is right? I just want people's experience. I called Polish embassy and the lady there told me that I shouldnt have problem but it depends on people. What!! ? so basically all I got so far is - depends if I am lucky ot not..

I think the person is right who said you can use your new passport with no visa and get in as a tourist. As long as you don't plan on working in Poland. Your old passport being invalid will make everything in it also invalid.

I am sure the answer to your original question is : NO.

You cant travel to any country if you dont have "Valid" and upto date travel documents. (in your case the visa is no longer valid)

Dont forget that not only do you require the correct documentation to travel to your destination....you also require the correct (and valid) papers to get back home!

Sandy B
yes you can....your passport will serve as a tourist visa which is good for 90 days in about any country.

Nicole R
I was in the same situation, and the answer is definetely YES. You can use your old passport with your visa just for visa purposes, and your new valid passport for passport purposes, no problem.
