Yes...it would take to long to get a German driving license!;-)
My friends from America never had problems to rent cars with their US driving license.

You'll have to get an international driving permit to be "legal" in Germany. That's what we got when we went this past October. It only cost $15 and we got it at our local AAA. It's valid for 1 year and all we needed to show was our valid US license. And also, they tend to rent manual transmissions a lot bc it's better on gas, so if you can't drive one, just make sure you ask for an automatic. Have fun!

Yes! It's a license isn't it. It's also a rented car, which means any license is fine :)
