i know this is true for some people (definitely is for me) anytime i am even around a person with an accent i pick it up very quickly. i think if you submerge yourself in the language (even if it's just speaking English with Germans) i think you could definitely pick it up. that is all your mind is hearing, therefore it will be more likely to mimic it.

I recently heard an interview with Arnold Schwarzenegger in German. He had such a strong American accent ( in combination with his Austrian dialect ) that I could almost not understand him.

So by this I would say it's totally possible..

Not unless you live for a long time there. I have lived in Berlin for the last 3 years and nobody minds my accent, although I already speak a dialect of Dutch, so accent might not be as noticeable as American.

In Germany there are tons of dialects and accents, so which one are you aiming for?

well....days ago I heard an american band singing some german lines... and it sounded very well ^^ and they didn´t need years for it
