yes, with the intl. driver's licence as mentioned below. driving age is 18, but to rent a car, you usually must be 21 or sometimes even 25!

Yes, you can drive for one year with your US driver licence, but only if you are older then 18. Because it´s not allowed to drive a car when you´re younger.

No. You need a international driving license.

You certainly may, and it will be less expensive to make the contract in the U.S.. Since the Euro is high, you will be at disadvantage to make the contract there. Also, make sure you ask for either standard or automatic transmission, since most of the vehicles are standard. Remember, indicate either gasoline or diesel.

While driving in the AutoBahn, be careful and obey all speed signs, because there will be no police or troopers. However, they use cameras and will photograph you, and the rental place will charge the fine to your credit card, even after months of your trip.

Have fun.

With Budget and Avis, you may rent and drive in Germany with a US drivers licence, without an international, though you do need a passport in some cities, like Stuttgard.

Yes. An american driving liscence is valid for one year in Germany. That means if you live there you have one year until you have to change your drivers liscence.
