Can someone tell me how great their trip was? |
My dream...my heart's desire...is to travel to two places: Germany and Ireland. I doubt I'll ever be able to afford to. So I watch the Travel Channel, I read Ireland of the Welcomes Magazine, I go to websites. Can someone who has been there just tell me about your experiences? |

Gary, I've been living here for almost 15 years now, and I do enjoy it. From a tourist point of view, it has lots to offer and is full of history and beautiful castles and countrysides.
But don't fool yourself: a trip to Europe is presently more expensive than normal due to the bad $/EURO exchange rate. But you can get a round-trip ticket to Frankfurt for about $500. If you do it very budgeted, there are ways of keeping the costs down. Check out some books from Lonely Planet and ask around. One advantage for you is that lots of Germans speak english and you can get through fairly easily. From Germany, finish up your trip by connecting to Dublin/Cork. Ryan Air has unbelievable airfares (approx $20 - but you have to be flexible!) and your dream can come true.
My guess: approx. $1,500 per person for 2 weeks is do-able. |

I went to Germany for the 3rd time in June, and it was amazing, even more so because the world cup was there this year. The country side was beautiful, and there was so much history around every corner. Then again if you're more into parties and things there's always something to do, never a dull moment.
All I can tell you is that if you really want to go, realize that it's not impossible, you only live once and you'll never regret it.
I'm sure someday you'll make it there, have an amazing time! |

There are many hostels that you can stay in for cheap. The facilities aren't that great, but you will have enough fun out of it that you will just need a place to crash, and wake up and start all over again! |
