Can you get to schloss neuschwanstein from Munich if you don't have a car?

By Train from Munich to Füssen by train. Check http://www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml for train time table. Once arrived in Füssen take the bus or a taxi (taxi ride approx 5 minutes so don't fear the costs!).

Cheers from 10miles away from that castle,
Siri

sure by train or bus as mentioned above.

If you are travelling from abroad like the US or Canada and are staying for a few weeks, you MAY want to look into a Germany Rail Pass or Eurorail pass. Depending if Germany is your only destination.

It can save you a lot on train fare if you do a lot of travelling from city to city and village by train.

I have been over 18 times and only rented a car twice ever. I always used the trains and buses. They have a very good transportation methods for most places. Much better than where I am in Vermont!!

You can take the train or bus:

Yes, but it is not easy and it will take all day "hin und züruck" - to get there and back ;-)

HI,

if you don't want to organize the trip yourself, you can also go to the tourist office in Munich. They sell a complete package to Neuschwanstein including the bus to go there and a tourist guide.
Depending on the package you can also see Füssen or Garmisch Partenkirchen.

Others have answered this question correctly already, but I wanted to add, since you are making the trip, be sure to visit both castles. Neuschwanstein is beautiful, but Hohenschwangau is well worth a visit also!
