Move like: move? Or move like: I'll stay there for a year.

In the second case: Why not?

In the first case: What is it that would take you over here? A job? A spouse who was offered a job here?
What else is there to keep you in the States (I assume), what else is there to lure you away to Germany? Do you have relatives to think about (elderly parents, differently gifted siblings,...), kids who might have to adjust to the new school, new surroundings... Are you single or dating/relationship? If dating/relationship, what does that significant other person say about moving to Germany? What would you do with your stuff? Are you considering emigrating to Germany or just moving for a couple of years, not desiring to ultimately stay there ( of course, that opinion might change once you moved here). How would the move affect your further career?

I can't convince you. I don't know you or your situation, and I might sugar-talk you into a decision you might regret over the points of having really good beer, awesome landscape, great food, proximity to other European countries, convenient travel to those countries, and expensive gas prices. Even though in my opinion, those points all hav their (rather high) value, they are not really going to help you making an informed decision.

However you decide, if it is possible, go visit Germany (again) as a tourist before making a decision, bearing the possible move in mind all the time while here.

Official Twilighter!

For the most part it has nice people. Very festive, EXCELLENT beer. It is in the middle Europe so you can visit other near by countries.

Because you are posting here. That's your first step. You know: People can fail in their decisions, but they should give things like moving and trying out something completely different (at least) a try. And what can you probably lose? Admitting to your friends that you didn't make it in Germany when you move back? Probably not.

I am German, and I traveled some countries, and I experienced what it is to be a foreigner. Some people will always attack you for being this-and-that; ignore them as best as you can. And I'm really talking about SOME, not the majority. Most people, as everywhere in the world, will give you a warm welcome. (If you come in peace, I might add.)

Give it a try. Nobody will ever be able to tell you whether you feel at home at the place you move to, but it gives you different experiences, and if you really, really dislike it: Your home is never more than ten hours away (I'm talking about flight time). I'd encourage you to try, but the decision,of course, is up to you.

Waffle Man! xD
