Chelsea!

Correct spelling of German historical novel?

Is this how you spell the historical novel about the King of the Scarlet City? (and is that what it is about?)

Here is the title:
Per konig drpurpurnen stadt
[the "o" in konig has the two dots above it]

THank you very much!

Der König der purpurnen Stadt

But if scarlet is capitalised I would capitalise "purpurn" too. I.e.:

Der König der Purpurnen Stadt

And if you cannot type o-umlaut (the o with dots) you spell it oe.

Der Koenig der Purpurnen Stadt

The book is by Rebecca Gable (I think I even saw an english translation) about the career of a trader in silk and wool. From orphan boy to personal fashion guru of the English Queen, being married to a former lady-in-waiting and recieving the title of Lord Jonah always comes out on top due to craftiness and skill.

The novel "Der König der purpurnen Stadt" - "The King of the scarlet City" is about the story of the boy Jonah, who lives in 14th century England and follows his up-and-down way from a simple workhand to an influential person.

The "scarlet" most likely refers to the fact that it's the royal color and since London is where the King of England lives...

katja
