Cost of living in Starnberg/Munich, Germany?

I'm heading to the Munich area (Starnberg) to play football for a semi-pro team from May-July. My contract includes housing, a car, insurance, flights and one meal/day at a restaurant, plus 500 Euros/month.
I'm looking to travel and sightsee, check out the nightlife in Munich, and I'm a fairly big eater. Will I be in the poorhouse with the deal I described?

Starnberg and Munich are among the most expensive places in Germany, but for different reasons. In Munich, it's the typical large-city premium on space and the expensive night life. In Starnberg, it's the scenery with the lake and the top-of-line houses surrounding it.

Your deal doesn't sound bad, and if you're into Bavarian food, the helpings will typically be more than sufficient. But night life in Munich isn't cheap. Assuming you'll need a portion of the 500 Euros per month to cover the meals that aren't included, and to buy an item of clothing or so every once in a while, the rest of the money can be easily blown.

A plain beer will set you back 8 Euros or so; figure 15-20 Euros for a more fancy drink. A hotel room in Munich will be difficult to find below 100 Euros, decent hotels take twice that amount. You may not need one; you can go back to Starnberg for the night, but those are the prices you'll encounter in most of the more interesting places in Germany. You get the picture. I think you'll get by, but you won't be living the high life.

I know a lot of rich people and TV stars live in the Starnberger See area. So maybe it is pretty expensive there. But it sounds like you've got a good deal going if your housing, car, etc. is already paid for. Groceries are much cheaper here than they are in the States. I'm sure you'll have a great time there. Good luck with your football career!

I don't know about 500 Euros/month. That sounds like not very much, especially if you only get one meal a day. I bet it'll cost you more than that to eat the rest of what you'll need. 1 Euro is a little more than $1. Could you live alright on about 500 Dollars a month? Good thing you'll get the rest of that stuff for free. Starnberg/München is a very expensive area.
Good luck and have a great time.

It's a such a nice place very famous people living round Starnberg and very very expensive. Munich is nice. 500 Euro extra will be enough for yourself.
