All announcements and all signs in international airports in Germany are both in German and in English, in some airports you can also find announcements and signs in French, Spanish, Italian, Turkish or Russian.
You will have zero problems during your 3-4 hours at the airport - you'll be surprised how many Germans can speak English (or another foreign language) fluently. |

I am from Germany and I can tell you that 90 % of all Germans speak english. The children learn it in elementary school and most adult are even almost perfect at it. Still if you don't feel comportable with it I can write down some German basics:
Hello: Hallo
Where is ... : Wo ist
Can I have ...: Kann ich bitte .. haben
Bye: Tschuess
Right: rechts
Left: Links
Sraight: Gerade aus

English in Germany?
To the best of my knowledge a high percentage of Germans speak at least some basic English, they all now learn it in school. You should find many who could help you out, especially at the air port or in bigger cities. At the air port, you should always find airline employees who can help you out. Even the info booth should have someone speaking English. I would not worry. Signs at the air port now may be in English, too, since the EU has chosen EU English as their common language, with similar a sound like English, but simplified spelling.
Gute Reise, have a good journey!
Enjoy your trip. |
