In Northern Germany you'll find more native Germans with natural blond hair, but the more you go to the south, the colour of hair will change to brown or black. Dark black hair, however, as known for the Greeks and Turks, is not common in Germany. The same as light blonde, known for Scandinavian countries. Often you do not know. German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder insisted on having black hair at the age of 55 years without using colouring agents and appealed at court against a journalist who wrote that he colours his hair.
A lot of "natural blonde" models in Germany are coloured too, since they are brown-haired. |

About half-half. It also depends where you set your lines. I'd say I have chocolate-brown hair, but in summer it bleaches out and I have had people describe me as dark blond, which astonished me a lot. The real "blond-blond" is not very abundant. I'd say every haircolor in Germany is about as abundant as the next. Well mixed, anyway. |

I really must make one thing clear here: Germans are NOT, and I repeat, NOT necessarily blonde. And I knew some German "blondes", because I'm born here, and by looking them in their eyes, you'll find out: Dark eyes and blonde hair, that doesn't go together.
I've had some interesting conversations like:
She: "I must tell you something."
I: "Mhm..."
She: "Myhair, I mean, it's not really blonde, it's..."
I: "I know."
She: "You knew? But, why...?"
I: "If your hair was really blonde, I never would have taken you to my place. Want coffee, Sekt? I could make some pizza."
Most girls chose the pizza.
I have dark hair, slowly greying, dark eyes, and most non-Germans mistake me for an Italian. |

20-49% of the native Germans are blonde...here people have more dark blond or light brown up to dark brown/black hair. Also the colour of the eyes varies from blue to brown. My parents both were native Germans and my dad had black hair and blue eyes and my mum blonde hair and brown eyes and I have dark brown hair but light-skinned and green eyes.

As I live in Germany, I can say that most of us have darker hair. Blonde hair is mostly a stereotype that is given to us by people who think about the Second World War too much. There are blondes in Germany, but certainly not the majority like someone else said. |

Well, it varies like in most populations of ethnic groups, but statistically from 60-75% of all Germans are fair or have blonde hair. It is not as abundant as in Scandinavia, but is the majority. Look at Diane Kruger, Claudia Schiffer, Heidi Klum, Kirsten Dunst(half German), Thomas Lehmann, and most German actors/actresses. |
