actually we do, just not like here in the US. It's not a big deal.
It really should be, because literally translated into english in Germany we celebrate harvest thanks.. to celebrate a good harvest!!!

Alwin E
Catholics do; it's called the "Erntedankfest" ("harvest thanksgiving"). They celebrate it with beautifully decorated churches; you should at least once see a big catholic church decorated with the "fruits of the fields" the people bring along. It's quite impressive. You have to go inside; the "Thanksgiving Table" is mostly right beside the altar. Don't worry; they don't throw atheists out. Just have a look; it's beautiful.

Instead of turkeys, we eat geese. Turkeys are not so widespread here in Germany, but each year, in catholic regions, hundreds of geese lose their lives to be the "St Martin's goose". I`m looking forward to a delicious goose, served with Blaukraut (red cabbage) and a Knödel (dumpling).

Huh? I just bought a turkey! Guess what I named her...
I can't wait to eat it!

Kev
Yes.
I see a nice juicy turkey on your avatar...
Mmmm...

Pat F
Thanksgiving is strictly a USA holiday. Turkey is also a food almost exclusively in the USA.
