Do they sell English Harry Potter books in Germany? |
I'm going away 2 days previous to the release date of the final Harry Potter book and I love them. I'll be in Germany at the time, so I was wondering, do they, by any slim chance, sell English versions as well as German ones in Germany? I have a strong feeling the answer is no, but it's worth a go isn't it? :D |

Wrong feeling. The answer is a firm yes! :-)
As the German version of the book is released a few months after the English edition, many people in Germany buy the English edition, which is released here on the same day as in the rest of the world.
In fact the ENGLISH version of the last Harry Potter made number one on the German bestseller list. Of course it was topped by German version a few months later.
If you're really eager and not staying in a very small town, you may even find a bookstore that has a special Harry Potter night and starts selling the book on midnight on the release day. |

Yeah! Can't wait either luv. Listen they'll be releasing the English version worldwide July 21st, so don;t worry, relax and happy reading. Besides the German edition comes out later... |
|

ARRGH!!!
 |
Yes they do. The German version comes out much later, I think about October. But the English one will be released here on that same day when it releases everywhere else. |

They do sell English books in German book shops. You probably will find it but perhaps not so close to the publication date. In other words there may be a delay gettng the English version.
I'd recommend having a look Ăn the airport or asking someone for a good local bookshop.
Harry Potter is pretty big business here in Germany so it shouldn't be too difficult. |

You'll probably be able to get it, but if you run into any problems, consider ordering one online.
And if you can't get it, you can get a 'knock off'. While traveling in Germany this past autumn, we saw a book with a brunette male child on the cover, with a lightening bolt scar, and the title was something to the effect of "Barry Trotter". I couldn't stop laughing. |

When the last but one Harry Potter came out, I was living in Germany. In the morning I woke up and watched the madness in the UK on CNN...then I went shopping in town and spotted literally a hundred copies of the English release piled up in a shop's window. So yes, it is released in Germany at the same time (only the English version....the German version takes a few months to come out). Assuming you are staying in or near a big city you will be able to get your hands on a copy on the same day it is released in the UK, no problem. Just don't expect midnight opening - they don't love the English text version *that* much. Expect to pay the full retail price too (converted into Euros) - you won't get the half-price deals they'll have in the UK in a lot of places in Germany on release day. |

It is too simple to get a book. You go to any bookstore (i.e. Buch-Habel, a chain) and order it. Next day you have it. If you know beforehand that you will want it, and there are delivery problems to be expected, tell the bookstore before, and they will do their best to get it immediately after publishing. I always buy English books here in Germany. |

In Berlin it will probably have the same release as in the States but it depends where you are going. I'm not sure about the rest of Germany. There is a really big bookstore next to the screwed up church on Ku Damm that will probably have it if u ar in Berlin. I'm just gonna have my mom mail it to me from Atlanta because its sometimes a pain to get english books here. The german version of the last one didnt come out until a few weeks later so it probably wont be out. They have to translate it. |

they sell german and english versions |

Hello love,
We Germans are civilised and as mentioned nobody wants to wait until the german version hits the shops...any big bookstore will either stock or will be able to order it in for you. It ususally takes 24 hours for the books to arrive in store and no decent store would charge you for this service.
I can't wait...just scared that Harry might die:((( |

Hugendubel is the name of a chain of book shops and they always have a good selection of english editions, however i think that others answering are right in the fact that the german release is much later than the uk one.... |

Yes, they do. How do you think all the German HP fans are going to get at their books on July 21st? Not everybody is prepared to wait until the German translation is out.
If you already know the adress you will be during the time of your stay in Germany, you can pre-order the book through amazon. Alternatively go to a large bookstore nearby as soon as you arrive in Germany. Place an order there and have them reserve it for you. This way you don't have to fight with the crowds. The large book stores will open their doors for the sale at midnight. |

in every bigger bookstore you will get it in english.. (and every smaller can order it within a few days) the reason is simple, the german versions came out later, so HP fans read it in english.. ive heard for the new book there are 40000 pre-orders for the english version.. |

You have a few options, one is Amazon.com. I live in Germany and have book sent to me in English via Amazon. 2 you can go to a local German book store and order one in English. 3 Amazon.UK or a book store in England. I would go to the yahoo.com, go to the international yahoo and look for Yahoo England Ireland and conduct a search there. I found this site but there are several others. www.bookstore.co.uk |

yes, the do. You can get it in bigger bookshops and you will also get them as soon as they are out (don't have to wait until they are translated) |

it's probably unlikely but if you are staying with friends out there you could pre-order a copy from Amazon and have it delivered there maybe? |
