Do you know the Oktober-Fest in bavaria?

Yes, I know the Oktober Fest. This year will be the 18th time I visit it. What I find amazing is that even with the InterNet the amount of wrong information that gets passed around.
The Oktober Fest Starts in Munich this Saturday the 16th of September, and lasts til Tuesday the 3rd of October. The 3rd is a German Holiday. Check the official website;

There are fests thru out Germany right now in many of the major cities. Only the fest in Munich is called the Oktober Fest(even though it starts in September - read one of the websites to find out exactly why). I have been to many of the other fests; Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Hannover, Bremen and while they all are good with their local charms, it is NOT Bavaria and Munich, or 'MÃ¼nchen' as it is spelled in German. OK, the Oktober Fest has 'Tourists' from all over the world(I think many cities would love to have that problem), but that is part of the fun. I could go on and on about this subject, but I do have work today. So, I will say this; If you like to party and drink beer then the Oktober Fest in MÃ¼nchen is something you should experience! For all the other comments I hear, well you either love it or hate it?

Yes it's in Munich and it's not in October. It starts mid-September.
Lots of real beer, Luna-Park and traditional Bavarian customs - eating sausages, sauerkraut etc.

Oktoberfest is simply amazing. I've never seen so much controlled chaos in my life. It's so much fun, and Germans don't get all sloppy drunk and fight and do stupid things like Americans do when some of us get drunk. You will find a great deal of tourists there, but you will also be able to hangout with the natives, and they really know how to have a good time. I suggest getting in to the Hofbrau tent if at all possible. The beer is great!

Oktoberfest: Germany's grand contribution to world beer consumption and beer bellies. Every year Oktoberfest attracts beer drinkers from all over the world to eat, drink, sing and make merry, while hopefully not making more of a fool of themselves than necessary. You get the picture.

Foamy liter steins of beer, called "mass," are hoisted high, sometimes with two hands because they're so freakin' heavy, saluting the strains of Bavarian Oompah Band music. Flocks of roasted chicken, herds of oxen steaks and tons of sausages of all manner and perverted shapes are consumed in a carnivorous orgy.

Munich's Oktoberfest started as a wedding celebration for Bavaria's Crown Prince, Ludwig I to Princess Therese of Saxony-Hildburghausen in 1810. Though called "Oktoberfest," the festival today actually begins in the last week of September. Originally the festival was held in mid-October and lasted only five days. The festival was later extended to 16 days and was moved back to the end of September so beer-drinkers could enjoy the lingering warm autumn evenings and perhaps avoid freezing to death in their stupors overnight.

Munich has a long and robust history with beer. Before it was even a full-fledged city, clever monks were brewing especially stout beers to help them through periods of long fasting. In 1516, Duke Wilhelm IV of Bavaria passed the "Purity Law," decreeing that beer could only be brewed from grain, hops, yeast and water. The good Duke thus preserved the special flavor of German beer that brings in the beer-thirsty pilgrims every year.

yes, get the gym be ready for them stein's they seem to get heavier as the night goes on. oh and dont get lippy with the bavarian women. when you see how many steins they can carry you;ll see why
