Do you like noodles or potatoes with your Schweinebraten?

Alwin E
potato dumplings, of course. I'm from Bavaria. How could I eat something else than dumplings ("Knödel") with my Schweinebraten? And a good piece of pork must have a "Speckraftl" (a piece of fat on the outer side of the meat), and only goes with a good spicy portion of caraway.

Ingmar
I was to say, both potatoes and noodles are not exactly a traditional choice. Personally, I'd prefer dumplings, and perhaps a bit of sauerkraut (by no means mutually exclusive, by the way.)

Kartoffeln or Kartoffelkloesse go very well for me with Schweinebraten. I am getting hungry and I think that will be great idea for my own dinner....

Nur Kartoffeln. No Noodles

Potatoes, or "Knödel", which are potato dumplings. There are also "Knödel" made out of bread. Both are yummy and both go well with Schweinebraten. And as a side dish I would serve Rotkraut, or Red Cabbage.

down_under_lover_forever2006
You can have anything with it. But dumpings are best.
But if you have run out of anything or can't get it you also can have some rice with it.
Why not? The main thing is that the side dish contains carbohydrates - doesn't matter where they come from.
And if you put curry on your rice it will make it even spicier

@William: you are definitely not "Germany". That would be terrible. You seem to be an American who has got no idea of other things but stupid sandwiches and stuff like this.
Oh yes, I forgot, Americans don't like to eat pork as it might taste "strange". Schweinebraten (you should spell it better) is similar to roastbeef but made out of pork.
And what I mentioned about mixing: I didn't mean to mix all of these side dishes together. What I meant was whenever I have Schweinebraten I once have it with noodles, the next time with potatoes and then with dumplings and so forth. Think before you write!

Knödel! Semmelknödel, Serviettenknödel, Kartoffelknödel, I don't care. But definitely Knödel. Anything else is blasphemy!

Like the saying goes, "Nothing goes with schweinebraten like schweinebraten!...and potatoes."

It's an old saying, perhaps you've never heard of it. Maybe you weren't there that day. In fact, I don't remember seeing you.
