yes u need a visa to go to germany

That depends what nationality you are. If you are a citizen of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EAA) or of the USA or Canada, you do not need a visa. But most other citizens do need a visa.

It also depends on what you are planning to do when you get to Germany. If you intend to work, things get more complicated and, even if you are an EU citizen, you may need a work permit, if you are from one of the New Accession States.

P.S. Don't take this information as 'gospel' ! Check up with your nearest German embassy or travel company.

Not to visit. You do however need a Passport to visit any foreign country. A Visa is for someone who plans on living there, working there, or staying there ... over 90 days. (I believe its 90)

I attached a few quick links from the state department. Which will provide you extremely valuable, accurate information and insight.
If you are going to smaller cities, such as Wuerzburg, Frankfurt, Vilseck, Rothenburg etc. Do a little research. Wuerzburg is a good little city. Rotherburg has a medieval feel to it with the dungeons and torture chambers from way back when.... etc. etc.

It depends on what country you're from. Germany requires visas from travelers from some countries, but not from others.

I do. You are the lucky one if you dont =)
I guess if you are from the USA you can stay in Germany for 3 months without visa.

Ken Guru
US citizens don't need to apply for a visa if they come as a tourist and don't intend to stay longer than 90 days. They will get a 90-day-tourist-visa when entering Germany.

This website explains easily if you need a visa or not:

http://www.inside-munich.com/germany-visa.html

marybiel_1
No yu don't need a visa, just when yu stay longer than three months

Dewhitewolf
As long as you're staying less than 90 days, you will not need a visa. But you will need a passport that will not expire within 90 days.

A visa is needed if you plan on working, studying, or staying longer than 90 days.

That's if you are a US citizen. Specific questions should be addressed to the nearest German Consulate. They can answer all of your questions--that's why they are there. You can also find other useful information there. Prior to your trip, check out the websites for the US Embassy and/or Consulates in the areas you plan on travelling. They can provide equally valuable information.

Whether you need a visa or not to visit a particular country depends on that country's relation to your country of citizenship.
