When going to Germany do you need a volatage adapter for things like hair dryers and cameras?

We have here 220V 50 Hz. Most Cameras have the possibility to load the Akkus also in Germany, but you need an adopter for th mains. If your Camera does not simply by here a new charger it will cost you about 5 Euros. For high energy devices voltage converters are very expensive ( for 2000 Watt more than 150 Euros) a new hairdyer will cost you about 10 Euros it is cheaper to buy a new one and to throw it to the thrash if you go back to the States.

A lot of correct answers already
I want to add if you are goint to stay in a hotel in Germany most of them can lend you the adaptors you will need same for a hairdryer even for charging mobile phones.
Always be aware we use 220V 50Hz AC not DC .

Yes and it depends on which country you are coming from too the kind you need and adapters you need.

Check the voltage of your appliances, make sure that you get two as suggested above if they are AC power 110/220 get two adapters and also the extensions to be able to place them into their sockets. Watch them to ensure they do not over heat on you and you use the proper items with the proper adapter.

IF it is a notebook you can usually just buy the German version of the power adapter and exchange it with your USA one for they both plug into the same spot on the laptops.

if they are not 110 and 220 capable then yes you will need a voltage converter

There are 2 kinds... one for high current things like hair dryers and one for low power things like cameras and radios
