Why yes, old chap. Those were simpler times. I often fondly reminisce about Big Band music, swing dancing, and really good art deco architecture. I also thought that the gals back then had better gams and the dresses were ever so much more fetching than they are these days. |

Oh how I miss world war 2. It was not as nice as WW1 but still, good long gory wars, there is nothing like it. Don't despair, maybe we'll get another nice one. |

Well, yes but no. I don't think my wishes could or should control time. On several occasions I've gotten the feeling that i have (had) a connection to the 40's. I'm 40 now and I've always liked Big Band Era music. Most of my contemporaries do not. I think perhaps i could've been a race car driver in the 40's if i did live a previous life. I definitely wouldn't want the world's unrest of that time period to come back around. genocide was awful. I find it strangely compelling though to "feel" that time period. have you ever seen "To Please A Lady" a Clark Gable movie that depicts a race driver's life in that period? |

NO! During the 40's we had WWII and the Great Depression. We were at war and the economy was down. Oh, wait a minute, that kind of describes now too.
HOWEVER, during that time people in America seemed to have better morals, were not as sexually free, AIDS wasn't rampant, and the divorce rate wasn't nearly as high. |

Other than the war, yes, I do wish it was the 1940s again - or just about any other decade besides this one! Society and our culture these days has gotten increasingly more violent, more non-social and the values that most people have have changed for the worse. I would like to go back to the days when there were no drugs or gangs in schools, when there were no drive-by shootings, when it was safe for our kids to play outside without worrying about sex offenders picking them up and kidnapping/murdering them, when we would go on long family vacations together that means driving places, talking and having fun, when there were no fast food restaurants, when there weren't 500 channels on the television that are mostly full of trash and things people waste extraordinary amounts of time watching, when the family sat down together in the evenings for dinner, when people looked forward to a sock hop at school instead of their teenage friend's baby being born - so yes, I do wish it was the 1940s again! |

Berlin must have been a great city in the 1940s but its a pity it was inhabited by a bunch of nutters. I was in Berlin last week and I think is going to become a great city again in the very near future. This time we need to keep the nutters out. |
