NO...You do not need a VISA to enter Germany. You will, however, need a valid passport. You can find out more information at the following website.

For most purposes, no, you do not.
"U.S. citizens do not need a visa for tourist or business travel to this country."
"US citizens in possession of a valid US passport do not need a visa for airport transit, tourist or business trips (for stays up to 90 days)." |

I would take an exception to the last 2 answers. I went to Ukraine last October. No visa was necessary. I went home to US through Austria. I walked the streets of Vienna just fine. Nobody asked me there for one either.
My guess is you don't need visa throughout the EU countries. But you'd better check with the German embassy. It's easy: use the Internet. |

No. You need a valid passport. A U.S. citizen can travel anywhere within the European Union for up to 90 days without a visa. |

As a travel agent I can assure you that as a US citizen you do not need a visa for Germany unless you are staying there 90 days or more. If not only a passport is required. |
