Does anyone here know about Dusseldorf?
I'm going to study in Dusseldorf but don't know much about this city. Can anyone help?
I study in the Heinrich Heine Uni in DĂĽsseldorf. I live here for almost 2 years. it is a very nice city. Historic and modern. The people in the Uni are mostly friendly. The people in the administration of the Uni are detestable, be careful you need a lot of patience. I have met profesors in the area of law and germanistics and both have been very nice to me. Also the students. The services in the Uni are good also. They have buildings near the campus for the students or you can rent a place for good money. There are many students that live in what they call WG that is an appartment rented by 2 or more students. That is a great opportunity to learn the language. That is another important issue, in order to study you should have a good level of german...
The city is very nice, in the rhein area. The capital of the fashion in Germany. The Alt stadt or classic part of the city os very nice and also full of bars (Bolker strasse) Many bachelor parties are held in these street! The medien Hafen is also a beloved place to party. In summer there is Monkey Island, like a little peninsula in the river, covered with sand where you go to drink some beers and listen to chilled music. Also it is very near Köln which is also nice and fun, the Dom is amazing, Aachen a very pretty town with an impressive Cathedral and you are 2 hours by train from Frankfurt or Hannover and about 5 to Berlin. I reccomend that you buy a Bahncard 50% so you get 50% discount in your train tickets. that is only if you plan to stay for a long time and travel a lot...!! Have fun.

Hey im studying in bochum at the moment which is a couple of stops from dusseldorf..Dusseldorf is brilliant and thats where i spend most of my weekends!its a great shopping town..its known as the shopping centre in that part of germany (after cologne)..its quite big but the Underground system is quite easy to figure out..the nightlife in dusseldorf is brilliant too..real vibrant and lots of tourists..the people there are really friendly and once they notice you speak english if you have any difficulties then theyl speak english too...my fave thing in dusseldorf is heading the Rhein(the river)..on a nice summer day you can sit along it and have a few drinks in the bars..its beautiful and peaceful!..if you miss speaking english or want to meet other english speakers then head to any irish bar..the best one is O Reillys in the Altstadt in the Rathhaus square..great atmosphere and everyone will either speak english or german..have a good time..its a brilliant city!
