I am not far from either and yes in the moment there is snow and it is rather cold.Forecasts say it will get a little warmer the next days but in January in this region of Germany there is snow almost every year.

You can most likely count on it! I lived in Munich for 12 years and January is pretty much the middle of winter there. Although unfortunately you may find yourself in the common situation of it being too cold to snow! This often happens in Munich, when the temperature can reach -5 degrees celcius or even colder. I just talked to a friend in Munich a couple of days ago over the phone, who said it was -10 degrees there at the moment! So that means there'd still be snow on the ground, but alot of it would be ice, and snow wouldn't actually fall until it gets a few degrees warmer. Though you can always head up into the Alps, which takes no time at all from Munich, where you're guaranteed PLENTY of snow!!

I live in the US now, but until I was 15, I lived in Germany near Frankfurt. Well, it does snow in Munich, but Temperatures are on the rise. It snowed a lot in Munich, but not so much now. Don't get me wrong though, it will be cold. But there will not be too much precipitation. I still talk to my friends in Frankfurt, and they say temperatures can go down to -10 degrees Celsius.

Look into www.deutscherwetterdienst.de
It is the official page of the Met Institute of Germany.
