Easter Weekend in Germany???

Hello
I am planning to go to Germany from 20th March to 24th. So basically for 5 days and 4 nights. Could you plz suggest me a rough travel plan so that I can cover a decent amount of the country in these days. I am not asking about full coverage, just a simple and logical path. I am planning to land in Berlin and take off from Hamburg, is that OK? Rest of the days in the middle are open right now.
Thanks.

Is that Easter Weekend, really? See, I'm a German, but didn't even know yet, as I'm an atheist. But most of Germany is Christian, and on national holidays (like Easter is) there is restricted public transport. If you have so little time, I'd suggest you spend 3 of your five days in Berlin, which is really a great city, and then take a fast train (IC or ICE) to Hamburg and have a stroll through town. I've never been to Hamburg, not once in all the seven years I lived and worked in Berlin, because there's so much to discover in the capital, you don't actually need to see a cold coastal town. (And I know, northern Germans will kill me for that straight away.)

You will not be able to cover a decent amount. If you go to Berlin Hamburg thats alot but I would visit LĂĽbeck in your place. Don't be afraid of the propaganda Alwin makes in winter Hamburg is warmer than Munich and overall Hamburg has more sunshine hours than Munich. But the truth is we Hamburgians like the myth of alsways sitting in the rain.
Greetings from Hamburg, Germany

I went there last year on September...it was absolutely awesome! We landed in Frankfurt, rented a car (they have the best and cheapest cars in Europe for renting) and drove to Nuremberg, Munich and Dachau (in Dachau there used to be a concentration camp).

Here's a tip if you haven't bought the plane tickets yet: buy them from www.lufthansa.com ; you will notice they're much cheaper then at any agency. Plus Lufthansa is one of the best flight companies in the world and if you buy your tickets online you get to choose the plane you'll fly on and the times that suit you the best.

Here's another tip for when you get to Germany: don't stay at hotels in the cities, search for GastHauses around the big cities, they're way cheaper (around EUR 65 per night) and all I've seen are VERY CLEAN and they look very nice. Usually the breakfast is included and you can expect a really tasty one.

It depends what you like to see! Berlin and Hamburg are very interesting cities but there are also this small romantic towns like Heidelberg which are worth a visit and also the Rhine. Frankfurt/Main is nice too and it's not to far from the Rhine but it's probably to far as you just have 5 days!

Hamburg is the most exciting city in Germany - a must: Easter bonfires along the Elbe river, the Brahmsfestival and and and u will love it.

Avoid Berlin -- poor, filthy and many Nazis
