Yep...I was there the last year....
Mmhhh...I went to Hamburg, Berlin and München, i think its a nice country, cheaper than those countries in scandinavia and with a lot of places to visit...
In Hamburg I went to the University area, where you can find a lot of gardens, coffees, libraries and a young crowd just hanging around at every corner....In Berlin i visited the holocaust memorial, the jewish museum, the wall, the east side, the potzdammer platz, mitte, etc etc...and in Munchen i was in downtown one day and the rest i was in the surroundings....
I found germany very interesting and multi ethnical, open minded people and very warm indeed.....a lot of history can be felt throughout the streets of berlin....but sometime i found berlin way to modern (which is acceptable if we remember tht most of the city has to be re-built after WWII)..... i found hamburg prettier than berlin, (very european with its old high buildings, narrow streets and tons of caffees.).....and certainly found munchen more expenisve.....
After my trip in scandinavia i went to germany, and my impression was that germany was not as clean as the northern countries...but that feeling went away as i went deep into the country.....I had to understand that the size of the economy of Germany attracts a major number of inmigrants (with all the problems related to immigration)...but at the end, all the immigrants in Germany gave the country an exotic side I didnt expected to find....and definetly
make the visit way more interesting....I mean I met a famous african painter, learn some turkish and meet the most beutifull german girl ever....
it was great... |

I went there, but was only there for a day.
I thought it was great, I was in Rudesheim, it was very old looking and almost mythical or like a fantasy world.
Plan to go back some day. |

I live very close to Germany and have travelled almost every part of it. I can highlight what I liked most about it;
Germany in general: Germany has very many many trendy hip cafes to go to ! The people are often very friendly and speak english. There are many nationalities in most places and very many 'styles' of people. I love the diversity there. Most cities are clean and neat as with the stereotype. Stores are open fairly late and you can find alot of imported goods. Some of the nicest places in Germany are the small towns set around the larger cities but still every large city has a charm and style of its own ! Pretty much every small town in Germany has many things to do, Swimming halls/clubs/bars/Pool halls/Saunas etc etc.. the list goes on. it has mountains and hills ! Open fields and cities, the snow and the summer !
Hamburg: Very picturesque and clean city. I love the town hall and its perfect to visit during christmas time to see the markers and drink gluhwein. The city has many green parks where you can take boats to the center and walk the city. I love citing by the huge fountain by the river in the center. I love this city. The University area is very nice to walk about. As with Germany very many many trendy hip cafes to go to !
Koln: Split by a river, one side old one side new. Koln had alot of interesting museums and things to see. Many streets with tons and tons of shops. Ofcourse, the cathedral and the lovely train station ! take a view from the EV tower over the city !
Bremen: One of the smaller towns set northwestist. Many of the cities around Bremen are very charming (oldenburg, lingen, emstek, cloppenburg) But, Bremen itself is worth a see. Nice student population.
Berlin: Well, its Berlin, its just an amazing city ! go !
Munich: Munich was gothic, i really liked it. The people seemed a little more friendly and have a slightly different accent. It did seem a bit more expensive, but walking through Munich just feels very classy ! Be sure to see Regensburg close by !
Essen,Dusseldorf,Dortmund (Ruhrpott): This is an area with many many towns close together. Having visited most I say you can skip some and stay in the main ones. All very charming. Dortmund has many randomly placed art peices with I liked and Essen is a growing metropolis.
Regensburg: Lovely small town that seems to have been stolen from Italy.
Bonn: A small town that I just got hooked on for some reason, really shows how much, every place in Germany is some how different and worth seeing.
I cant say Iv had a bad experience ever in Germany being a tourist and only speaking English :) |

Yes, I live in Germany.
It is cold and wet right now and we expect snow coming this weekend.
This past summer we visited Heidelberg, Regensburg, Rothenburg ob der Tauber, Munich and several other spots towards the mountains. Weekend trips.
I came over with the USA Army. I got married to a german woman. The USA Army left and I am still here.
I guess I have having a good experience. I was in Hawaii in February to see my mom. I am formally from Hawaii.
Back to Hawaii . . . sure . . . I am kind of stuck in Germany at the moment. A lot of overhead . . . wife . . . house . . . apartment . . . kids . . . job . . . friends . . . clubs . . . Mainly responsibilities |
