There are many good musuems. Especially the Art and Movie Museum are very good.
Go to Sachsenhausen, a suburb, for dinner or lunch. There you'll get original Frankfurt food and Aeppelwein (alcoholic Appel Cider).
Browse around the city and shop. The Zeil is the main street. Many main European brands have their shops there.
Stop by the Alte Oper to see a classical building. That's also close to Fressgass which has a lot of lunch places. Some very modern! |

You have some good advice for Frankfurt a Main.
Don't, however, forget the Roemer Platz. You will find this spelled Romer with two little dots above the "o" giving it an oer sound but we do not have the unlaut so it is written "oe"!
This is where Charlemagne ruled the world of Europe and since he was in charge and his father had been Pope old Charlie made Pope as well so, he was Europe's main guy!
He did it all from downtown Frankfurt.
The food is extremely tasty and good for you.
Spass und guetes Glueck haben! |

Which Frankfurt?
You can't go wrong with a beerfest, or better yet Octoberfest!
You don't have to drink beer to have fun.
If your in Frankfurt A.M. your near some really cool things like
Rothenburg, Heidleburg, Idaroberstein, and other cool cities.
I would recommend Heidleburg, the castle is fantastic, and
the city is fun! |

I live near Frankfurt and I ask the same question every weekend. There is nothing very spectacular in Frankfurt. It is also a city which in not made for tourists. You can visit the "Römer" , a place in front of the majors house. There is the Paulskirche, the first German Parliament. But take care, not to pass it without notice it. The shopping street, called Zeil, could be very interesting for Americans, because it is a pedestrian area. In the Kaiserstraße near the railwaystation there is an area special for men. Dark Cinemas, cheap girls a.s.o. Don't try to climb up the tv-tower, it is closed. The best shopping mall is a little bit outside, and it is called Nordwestzentrum. You can reach it by bus. The skyline is the most spectacular in Europe, but not to compare with NYC. In spite of it Frankfurt is also called Mainhattan. A combination of Manhattan and the river Main, which goes through Frankfurt. And if you are gay, you will fell a very tolerant atmosphere. Round the "Zeil" there are many locations, where you can meet friends. |
