Don't let all these people scare you.

You will make it. The Frankfurt Airport is big and intimidating, that is true, but Terminal 2 is much much smaller and "over-seeable"
I would suggest the 2 hour rule in Terminal 1 for sure since there are long long distances between check-in and the gates. But even there, Lufthansa has a 35 minute deadline before departure which means you are still able to check-in with bags and receive a boarding pass.
In Terminal 2, although there are very short walking distances, there are many "American" airlines with strict security controls which could back up if you dont give yourself enough time.
You might want to see if you are able to Check-in the night before with your airline. Most allow this after 6pm the previous day. That would save you tons of time and stress.

If all else fails, contact your airline for their deadlines...but honestly, you have over 2 hours to get on your flight. You will be fine.

relax and enjoy your trip

If you arrive at Frankfurt Hauptbahnhof, there will be Trains to the airport every 3-7 Minutes. Travelling time is about 12-15 Minutes. You can check it on the website of Deutsche Bahn (in english):

http://www.bahn.de/p/view/international/englisch/international_guests.shtml

The main station in Frankfurt is "Hauptbahnhof". For the airport it's just "Airport"! :-)

But ways are long at the airport, especially when you want to go to Terminal 2! There is an extra Check-In, just when you come out of the "Fernbahnhof". Its called "Check-in T". Here is a list of the airlines you can check in there:

http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.com/cms/default/rubrik/9/9821.checkin_t.htm

Then you have enough time at the airport.

I hope this helps you. Have a nice flight!

Hi, if your train stops directly underneath the airport than you will make it without a problem. If your train goes to Frankfurt central station then it might get tight. You will have to take a taxi and give a good tip to make the man speed a bit. Dont worry about the 2 hrs too much. To make sure your luggage gets on the plane you need to be there 60 minutes before and boarding starts appr 30 minutes before liftoff. No sweat!

I think it's risky. Both times I was in Frankfurt airport, the lines were long and hot.

You will be at the airport 8.57 and the flight will be 11.20 from Frankfurt. So you have enough time (2 hours and 20 minutes) get out the train and go to the terminal 2 and check in.
Don't believe this people, Frankfurt Airport is unorganized, this is not true. It's huge and nice there. Nice flight....

When you're arrving at Frankfurt Flughafenbahnhof then you are already in the airport and it is very convenient to check in. Check-in time is dependent on the destination and airline. Lufthansa for example recommends a check-in at least 90 minutes before departure when travelling to the US. To other destinations, check-in is possible until 40 minutes prior to departure.

It depends where your train stops in Frankfurt!! If you chose a train that directly goes to the airport, which is possible to both terminals, then you will have no problems in catching your flight. My husband always takes the train to the Frankfurt Flughafen directly. So you may wanna check again where you're train arrives. However, if you end up somewhere in Frankfurt then you will not be able to make it in time, because Frankfurt is a big city, and the airport area itself is huge!
Check here for trains:

Angel, having been through there with train connections I think you know you are pushing the limits....I really don't think you can make it..sometimes the security line is an hour long...

I think you might be able to make it if your flight leaves from Terminal 1 and your train is on time. (If you have to take the shuttle bus to Terminal 2 it will get very very close - I would not risk it.) Familarise yourself with the layout of the airport (see the map http://www.airportcity-frankfurt.de/cms/default/rubrik/13/13146.uebersichtsplan.pdf )
so that you can get to the counter as fast as you can.

If at all possible, fly with hand luggage only. (I've done so even when I went on a 3 weeks holiday travelling in Iran.) At the very least have luggage that you can easily roll along with you. Take comfy shoes that you can run with, it will be necessary!

If there is really no earlier train, consider taking the last train at the evening and stay in Frankfurt. (In a pinch, I've on occassion slept at airports and train stations - see http://www.sleepinginairports.net/europe/frankfurt.htm for Frankfurt.)

Hope that was helpful!

Depends on the day you are flying out and how long does it take you to get to the airport on train from where you live becuase you'll be cutting it close. If it's on a weekend, forget it!

Nope,

Frankfurt airport is huge and unorganized. They have a strict 2 hour rule on checking in for INTL flights. If you are not at the counter before 9:00 they will not let you check in. I don;t mean in line, I mean at the counter. The agent cannot make an exception.

Sorry!
