German custom on packages from the US?

I am going to send x-mas presents to my friend in Germany. Lots of toys for the kids, altogether maybe worth $200. I will wrap them separately in gift wraps but put together in a large box, and going to ship it via USPS.

Anyone can tell me what else should I do besides writing down that they are gift and the value on custom form? I'd like to make sure that my friend doesn't have to pay for tax or anything when she receive the gift.

You do not have to worry, gifts that do not exceed the value of 175 € or $246 (converted as of today) are subject to be tax-free, if declared as gifts. Unfortunately I can only provide a German Government internet page in German language as source, but you can believe me, that's the truth.

Alwin E
Affirmative to LaFee. German customs raised the tax free level for gifts just recently, and it is now (or will be by fall, I'm not actually sure if this is already in effect) around USD 200, or whatever it might be in euros.
