OK

German guys only. How will you respond to your non-German friend when he/she says he/she wants to learn German?

Will you encourage him/ her ( e.g. Go for it ) ? Or you will say " Don't learn German. It's hard to learn it. Most of the German guys can speak English. You don't need to learn it " or etc?

Share your views, thanks

I'm German, and I always would encourage one to learn ANY foreign language. If I hadn't learned English, I wouldn't be here, would I? It's always a bad idea to disencourage someone from doing something he wants to do or wants to learn. Hell, I'd learn Arab or Japanese if I could; but their writing is too difficult for me. I'd maybe disencourage someone to drive a car at 200 km/h without any exercise, but with languages, you can never go wrong.

@Amelie: Farsi sure would be a nice language to learn. Hope you feel fine in Germany.

Well I am german and I am always really happy if someone of my friends who is not german wants to learn german. I am acctually persian ;). I am livin here since I am 1 year old and german is really difficult. Even I got still some problems with it. But I would encourage him/ her and I'd be happy cause I could teach him/her and it's fun for me ;). and I think with a lot of training you could learn it cause my parents did too and they came to germany when they were 30 years old.
Have a nice day

@Alwin: yeah its nice here and farsi is difficult for me xDD
