Germans: Characterisation?

a) How do you characterise the Germans?
b) How would the average english citizen characterise the Germans?

it's for a German school project.
The questions above could be a little weird, but will be happy, if you answer my question seriously.

I am from the UK
I love visiting Germany, and feel very comfortable there.
In my view:
I would say that German citizens are often very neat and tidy. you dont see any litter in German streets
Germans are precise and generally never late.
I personally, find most germans are helpful and friendly, especially when I try to use my not-very-fluent german language skills... If they see you are trying to make an effort they are more likely to help you.

the typical UK view of Germans is that they dont have a sense of humour and are unfriendly

I am German, and I know a little bit how others see us.
Beside the point that all Germans are different like all people everywhere in the world, there are a few things that makes us Germans.
Perfectionism, accuracy, timeliness, friendlyness, readyness to help
others, family orientated, we like to found associations of any kind,
and as negative things we are obedient, but we are on the best way
to change this. And the risk to try to know things better.
And dispite to what others say, we have a great sense of humour.
My sense of humour for example is dark black. Some of the opinions
that orhers have about us have to do with the language. If people do not
understand the language they judge by the sound.
I know an indonesian dialect. Whenever these people talk you think
that any minute they might kill each other. So people might think, they are aggressiv. But they are very warmhearted people.

I'm half-German but i'm a lot more like my mom (German) than my dad. Like my mom i'd say...I'm organized and neat (for the most part), pay a lot of attention of details and can be a perfectionist, can be stubborn and strong-headed, and i'm pretty disciplined when i'm working on something important. I'm also friendly, though i'm not especially outgoing around other people until i get to know them well. The English seem to joke about the Germans a lot as being stern and unable to laugh, i think they hold a lot of stereotypes.
