You never should step or stomp on one as natural that reaction would be unfortunately it doesn't help at all.
On the contrary if you stomp on one it may happen you transport eggs of them on your shoes to the next place.
What is necessary is to make any kind of food unavailable to them and best is to call the exterminator.
I Heart Twilight ∑ Heroes!!!!!!
step on them...

2 questions in 1 week about germans and germany......
are you studying them and the country ?
you need to specify exactly what you had in mind ?
i think you may not mean the obvious ie insects ?
but if you do.......then depending on your attitude to the right to live for all things ...you may care to pick it up / sweep it into a dustpan.....and put it outside ?
or just tread on it !
but do you mean a ' coackroach ' by another name ??
let me know
Alwin E
Yea, call the exterminator. I lived in a student's apartment ("Studentenwohnheim", for those German readers here) in Berlin, and we DID have cockroaches there. They're a real plague, and there's nothing you can do about them, except using some DDT-like stuff. I don't know if the cockroach problem got solved in the end, because I moved out to some roachfree apartment.
Poppy_I.
During my long life I only had one place in Germany where I saw cockroaches. I went to the store and bought a spray to clean my house.
When I was visiting the US, I met those nice animals in LA as well as in Birmingham ALA. None in Chicago and none in Seattle, though. But the ones in LA were about the eightfold size of the ones in Germany. Perhaps they prefer the warmer climate?

Clean up your place and ensure there isnt any open water (they love that. Food scraps or even morsels on the floor are a no go...sweep and mop.
