Germans: why you do not protest that USA is still using gaschambers to execute death penalty? |
I am wondering about it since everyone is picking on you coz of the Holocaust where you used gas. The USA is still using it to kill their prisoners. |

well I absolutely disagree with the comment that a jew is better than a criminal since we talk here of human beings and not of guilt. And don't we all know that a Jew once said "If your slade is clean than you can throw stones if your slade is not.." - and this guy became very famous though. But to answer the question. We do not protest because it is senseless to protest against a country who regularly fails in regarding human rights and is always busy to criticize others if they do so |

Well you see that only shows the USA is no first world democratic country.
But give them some more time maybe they will learn some day. |

First of all it is not the business of Germans, or any other Europeans to change that.
It is the business of the USA and their people to do so.....
I don't think that is going to happen soon concerning human rights USA is ages behind Europe.
Secondly how do they execute prisoners in your country?
See it is always better to clean infront of ones own door first.
And last but not least what has all this got to do with travel in Germany!? |

I am opposed to any kind of death penalty, so why should I protest only against gas chambers? I don't think the electric chair or a poisonous injection is any more humane than the gas chamber, or death by hanging.
However, my main arguement against the death penalty is not its inhumanity. I think it doesn't even have a deterring effect for potential criminals. Somebody who goes as far as to commit a crime of murder usually feels he has nothing to lose, and his life isn't worth a dime. But loss of freedom and life in prison is something everybody fears.
I know that wasn't right on topic to your question, but I felt I had to mention it. |

I love your use of words and how you pick on modern German people and say "...coz of the Holocaust where you used gas." How could say something like that? Nobody alive today is responsible for that horrible masssacre. As an american, I know for a fact that the U.S. does not legalize gas chambers. They've been illegal to use since the 1960s. I highly doubt we even have any left. |

You would only need to protest some individual states. There is no national policy regarding the death penalty in the US. Several states, including Wisconsin and Minnesota, do not even have the death penalty. |

Why the people in US not protesting for that? |

Why should we protest more than anybody else. Anyway, I wouldn't say we're being "picked on", just being heckled by ignorant Americans. |

just for your info:
I am German and I didn´t use gas on anyone !!!!! If you want to ask those who actually did use gas back then, trust me they won´t be here on Y!A. |

catch me :D

Yea, I know, and the electric chair (or how it's called) is still used too, I think.
Stupid, I know.
To kill a murderer is the easiest way to get rid of him. But when we do so, we're not better then the murderer himself.
Of course. Maybe he's a very cruel killer and when he killed someone I knew, I would also want him to die in a gas chamber. But that's just stupid, I think. He should get his whole life into prison, that's terrible enough, to not be free. Killing is bad in every way.
That's the reason why I want to live in the UK rather then in the US. I'm scared of the laws and regulations there ;D (german) |

I'm not German, but I can tell you that there's a difference between a criminal and a Jew.
A criminal with a death penalty was probably convicted of murder or something similar.
A Jew was born. And that was enough for a Nazi to kill them.
Gas was used in both cases because it was clean and easy, but the method of killing has nothing to do with it.
And for a little advice, don't confuse the words "German" and "Nazi." Nearly no Germans agree with the Nazi ideals and many are insulted when you assume that they were proud of WWII. |
