I was born and raised in Germany and moved to savannah GA in 1989 i`m going back to visit the first time in 17 years next Month...I`m from that Area... visit Rothenburg ob der Tauber it's a very historical Town and famous for the old Buildings and Churches everything can we done by foot meaning you can walk allover the Place... also if you get a Chance visit Kitzingen and Ansbach they are also close..... Garmisch and Munich is beautiful as well as heidelberg... you'll need a lot of time and cash to really enjoy yourself.....and if you're old enough try the PILS in Stuttgart it's the best Beer in the World!!

Stuttgart is in the state of Baden Wuerttemberg, and is the state capital. It lies to the West of Bavaria. Besides the Mercedes and Porsche factory, you might want to take a trip to Lake Constance. It'll be cold, but on a clear day you might see the Swiss Alps. Also, Ulm is the birthplace of Albert Einstein, and is half way between Stuttgart and Munich (the capital of Bavaria) Near there is Blaubeuren, a midevil city that has a very interesting spring called the Blautopf...not sure what you'll see in the winter.

eat dÃ¶ner. ride a train. see a museum. talk to random people in a pub. go to all the cafes. use your german! (in big cities, most people speak english - so you have to consciously use german. they will speak english to you when they hear your accent!) Find small kids or older people, and strike up a conversation (they tend to speak poorer or no english). Go to a toy store! Decide yourself for which is better: Milka or Ritter Sport. Go to a fuÃŸballspiel. Sample all the beers. Kinder-brand Ãœberraschung Eier! Really, there's a lot to do. Just go out and explore. Find a shopping avenue and just have fun. Make sure you check out the clearance at H&M!

I'm hopefully going to Stuttgart in March myself, looks like it'll be an awesome trip!

Go to www.stuttgart.de (official website and in English ).There are so many things to do, and to see.Approx.30 km to the East
is Kirchheim/Teck located,go visit the castle-not a ruin!
And most of all,talk to your buddy in Stuttgart,he should know what you could do!
Anyway enjoy your trip to the Mercedes and Porsche-town !

My best advice is to learn a few key phrases (and correct pronunciation!) in German. Most Germans speak English, but always start out any conversation in German, especially a greeting: Guten Tag (pronounced gooten tok for "good day"). It's always better to struggle with your German talk than to expect them to communicate in English. They greatly appreciate your trying, then will most likely come to the rescue in English.

If you start out in English, they may act like they don't speak English and walk away and leave you stranded.

Also, do research on the cities you will be visiting and find other information on nearby towns and take lots of pictures!

They are really great and friendly people, so enjoy yourself and have a great time.

Garmisch (sp?) ,and Munich are great (Olympic village)
outside of Munich is Dachau , a former concentration camp, its very surreal, but it's a part of history

Stuttgart is the home of Porcshe and you can see the BMW factory from the Olympic tower
