Gott steh mir bei, und öffnen Sie Ihre Tore. I need to know if this means God standy by me and open your gates?
If that is not the correct translation please give me the correct translation. Please POST ONLY IF YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY POSITIVE that it means God stand by me and open your gates. I plan on getting it tattooed.
your meaning is right but I never would say SIE to god because he should be my friend and not a respect person like a police officer in germany for example !! and never use a comma before AND

God, stand beside me, and please open Your gates..
the meaning is okay, but there are no verb consistency. the first phrase (steh mir bei) is "du - imperativ form", but "öffnen Sie" is "Sie - imperativ form"
The öffnen Sie is a polite imperativ form. usually people use "Du" to God, also in the bibles. then maybe this is better
"Gott, steh mir bei und öffne die Tore!"
Check about my grammar explanation in the internet if you dont believe me. ;)
you can also use "bitte" means "please" to make it nicer.

ummm..... it should be Gott steh bei mir und öffnest du deine Tore.
No, I'm not completely positive, but I think I'm close. Post this in languages, you'll get more feedback.

Gott steh bei mir und öffnen Du deine Tore.
That is what it is :)
However, i suggest that you get in contact with someone who grew up speaking German.
I really like that. i'm planning to have a phrase in German Tattooed on the back of my neck that is very similar to that =)

Many foreign phrases do not translate directly to English. This is a conceptual prayer. Literally: God stand (close or next or near) "to me" and open " you" your gates (here meaning of course His Heavenly Gates). So yes. The idea is asking God be with me and bring me into your presence.

Well I wouldn't let tatoo that. It sound that the lord is a door-to-door salesman
