Well, I read it now, and I think Yahoo!Answers should improve on their knowledge about geography, but not to the extent proposed. They divide Germany into all of its federal states, but on the other hand have a category "Europe (central)" which includes the Netherlands, and quite a lot of people ask specific questions about Amsterdam, which is in Holland province, a part of the Netherlands.

There are more than 400 countries in the world, and with all their provinces / federal states, you'd have a few thousand distinct categories. Germany has 18 federal states alone, the US have fifty. Imagine what a mess that would be. I wouldn't even like to think about countries where borders are constantly changing.

I'm convinced that Y!A's international sites and policies could use some improval, but it should be done with care and consideration.
